The 25-year-old Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861 bowler claimed that he, along with his IPL teammate, Wayne Parnell, went to attend a birthday party and was not aware of the banned activity taking place at the hotel.
"I was invited to a birthday party. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WD-Parnell-c2787 was with me, I did not know that there was a rave party at the hotel," said Sharma.
The spinner further revealed that their arrival on the venue was soon followed by a police raid – an unexpected scenario given that they only came at the request of a friend and were left upset after the police questioned them.
"We reached there at around 7 in the evening and all of a sudden within half an hour of us reaching there, the police raid happened. We didn't know what was happening, I asked the police officers and they told me that a raid was in progress," he said.
Initially all persons present at the bash were taken to hospital by the policemen and all underwent medical tests before being carried away to a detention centre for further inquiry.
Both the cricketers however, have claimed their innocence while have also provided their blood samples, along with urine test to the authorities.
" Myself and Rahul were there at the hotel in a party at the request of a friend. We went there and at 7'o'clock police were all over in the party. ," said the Proteas all-rounder.
The Pune Warriors’ duo, when asked about the host of the birthday party, told that it was their old friend, who had invited them. They said that they had known him for almost a year and kept a regular contact however, remained reluctant in disclosing his
identity.  
Sharma insisted that incase if he was proved guilty, he will leave cricket himself. He however, assured that he has never touched alcohol in his life even after team’s victories, and stays away from all immoral activities.
