Rail Cards- what would be the best card for me?

I went on this train website to see how much it would cost me to get a train to school and it says pick a rail card. Ok i know what they mean but what card would be best for me. Im 14, and i basically only need a railcard to school on wednessday and thursday because thats when i stay with my nan, what card should i get

  1. I'm assuming that a rail card is like a bus ticket. If so, pick the one that fits your schedule for the lowest cost.


  2. As you are fourteen, there is no railcard to suit your needs as you get half fare anyway, being under sixteen.

    Once you reach sixteen years of age you can apply for a Young Person's railcard, which will give you a 33% discount on most standard fares, but minimum fares apply before 10am on weekdays, except on bank holidays and every day in July and August.  The YP card is currently £25 per year, but will probably be a bit more once you're eligible.
