Rail Trip to take down Game On Dude in the TVG Pacific Classic Stakes for striking a second success at Del Mar
The Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes has brought together top of the line competition with entries in a line-up that has raced in and scored through multiple graded events.
The mile and two furlong race has attracted ten, three-year-old and above contestants. The £387,097 prize money race will be held at Del Mar on Sunday, 26th August.
The seven-year-old gelding, Rail Trip, and the five-year-old, Game On Dude, have their chances of success at 10 to 1 and 9 to 4.
Game On Dude has raced in graded company only ever since the new season kicked off, whereas Rail Trip had to race in an allowance race after ending fourth in the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap on 28th May, 2012 at Betfair Hollywood Park over six furlongs.
Both the rivals have raced at Del Mar recently, the Ronald W. Ellis trained winning and Awesome Again’s gelding qualifying as the runner-up in the races they were part of.
Game On Dude has bagged three races out of the five events that he raced in during the new season. He stamped his dominance on the season by winning the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes on 5th February, 2012 at Santa Anita over 1 1/8 miles.
The Kentucky bred then won the Grade 2 Californian Stakes on 2nd June, 2012 at the Betfair Hollywood Park over 1 1/8 miles.
The Bob Baffert trained then trumped the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup on 7th July, 2012 at the same race course over 1 ¼ miles.
The Kentucky bred owned by Jay Em Ess Stables raced the last two events at Del Mar. He landed the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap on 28th July, 2012 at Del Mar over 1 1/16 miles. He set John Scott as the runner-up.
Jump Start’s gelding had his next try in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic on 26th August, 2012 at Del Mar. He ended fourth as Dullahan won the race and had Game On Dude following right behind.
Rail Trip has drawn the first gate with jockey, J. Valdivia while Game On Dude will become the mount for, Chantal Sutherland, and will race out from the ninth stall.
