is there any rail transportation in Williamsport, PA?

or in the surrounding area?

like if I wanted to get from Williamsport to Philly?

  1. Are you talking about the town of Williamsport which is pretty near Wilkes-Barre?

    If that is the case, the nearest train station is the Amtrak station in Lewistown, PA, which is about 50 miles away.  From there it's about four hours to Philadelphia.


  2. There are two railroads that go through Williamsport. Norfolk Southern just passes through on the south bank of the river, while the operations in the city itself are handled by the Lycoming Valley Railroad, a branch of the North Shore Railroad. Unfortunately, except for the occasional excursion, all they run is freight. The nearest Amtrak station is probably Lewistown.
