Has anyone else got the runaround from the railroad retirement board?I call there today excited to try to find out for sure whether my mom worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. They found her social security number and said that she indeed had drawn retirement and the main information I wanted was the name of the railroad .They said it was no longer in service"DUH" you think?Or I would have known if she worked for it or not..but they said all they had was a number 1814 and there was no access to it.I thought the government knew everything and that would be so simple to find out from them although they don't have the information.Geez what about the other like billion people that are getting retirement.Could anyone else possibly tell me where I might find employment information possibly telling me for sure if she indeed worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. Thanks in advance

  1. irs on her annual filings, that will prove she worked for the rr

and yes the rrb is a joke,.

my address was changed in 2006 and I complained, they did not even care. they are really a bunch of govt. hacks.

  2. if the rrrb doesn't have it, you may try to contact UP to see if they have any of SP's old records still laying around.

Other than that, You may be able to talk to people that worked in the terminal that you think she worked at.  Try to look for people you would assume were around before the merger, and ask them.

    Good luck
