Question:

Railroad jobs in New York City?

I currently live in Michigan and work for a steel mill. I have just transferred to our transportation department, where I will learn to drive an engine with a blackbox. I plan on moving to New York city within the year and I am hoping this move at work will give me an advantage in the railroad industry. What I would like to know is what railroad industries are there in NYC and if you believe this move at work will help me get my foot in the door when I move? Any advice is welcome and yes I am use to not having holidays off and odd hours of work. For example I have experienced working 16 hours for seven days straight on numerous occassions along with 7 days with twelve hours for months on end and I have only enjoyed one Christmas and one Thanksgiving day off in ten years. So that is nothing new to me.
