Railways v Rajasthan – Ranji Trophy, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update - Railways win by an innings and 12 runs
A massive 8-wicket haul from Karan Sharma propelled Railways to a significant victory over Rajasthan, by an innings and 12 runs, in their Group A match during the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kumar-Shri-Ranjitsinhji-c71870 Trophy, played at the East Coast Railway Sports Association in Bhubaneswar, from
December 15 to 18.
The match kicked off with Railways winning the toss and deciding to bat first. Aniket Choudhary (37-9-82-3), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivakant-Shukla-c2512
(109) put Railways on the right track with a resilient century. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Railways-c836 worked their way up to a final total of 405 after which they were all out.
The team proceeded to maintain their dominant stance with their fierce bowling performance, as Anureet Singh (24-13-40-5), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-Bangar-c2442 (12-9-13-2) joined forces to limit Rajasthan to a low first innings total. Ashok Menaria’s
27 was the highest score on his side, while skipper Vineet Saxena (22) was the only other batsman who succeeded in passing the 20-run mark. Within 64 overs, Rajasthan were all out for a paltry final total of 135.
Asked to follow on, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 stepped up to bat for a second time, and while the top order put in valiant attempts to give their team a chance, most of the middle and lower order failed to rally themselves, and crumbled at a meagre total.
Coming in at number 3, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vineet-Saxena-c95365 (29) and wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik (27) were the only other batsmen who managed
to register double-digit scores, while the rest remained disappointing, and fell victim to the rampaging http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Karan-Sharma-c70268 (33-3-97-8).
Aided by Mali (20-5-54-1) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kathuria-Anureet-Singh-c70469 (25-9-56-1), Sharma did not give the opposition so much as a scent of victory, and managed to keep Rajasthan down to a final total of 258. The Railways then went on to clinch a stellar victory, by an innings and
12 runs.
