Rain and People?????

Why is it that people duck in the rain, do they really think the rain wont hit them?

Unlike others are telling you this is not a stupid question but it does sound more like a physiological one rather that a weather one.

I don't think I "duck" when it's raining, just kind of bow my head because I don't want rain in my eyes. But I agree with a previous poster, rain hitting the back isn't as bad as in your face

I honestly think some people believe they will get concussion if a raindrop strikes them. Physics proves that you get wetter if you run or walk fast in the rain  than if you just walk normally so I never duck. I just enjoy it.

primitive instinct to protect yourself

It's a natural instinct to protect your face and the core of your body.  I know I'd personally rather have hard rain hit my back and the back of my head than my face and my stomach.
