Rain disrupts ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifier 2011 opening day: Cricket News Update
Rain playing spoilsport on the opening day of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 World Cup Qualifier 2011 led to officials abandoning three games scheduled to kick off today, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Dublin.  
As another competition by the ICC for this year’s cricketing event the under 19 tournament comes out as an initiative by the governing body to allow affiliate and associate members of the ICC to take part in the international events alongside other world
champions.
However, teams to qualify from the current tournament will eventually secure a spot on the next year’s ICC Under-19 World Cup.
As for the current tournament, the competition features 10 youth squads from countries all across the globe. The contenders include Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, United States of America and Vanuatu.
Spanning over a period of 10 days, the series opener kick off today with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 and the United
States of America, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vanuatu-c3038.  
With the opening fixture already on its way followed by Ireland taking on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usa-c759, the remaining three matches came to an unfortunate delay as a result of a wet outfield caused due to rainy conditions.
As for the other fixtures, day 2 is set to host another 5 games between all ten teams followed by a rest day on the 30th. The competition will then go on with another elongated 35 fixtures till the series finale on August 9.
The venues on the other hand will include fixtures being held between Dublin, Bready, Drummond, Coleraine, Limanady and Eglinton all posed towards http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 hoping to generate more interest by the audience for its member nations.
