Rain ends match between Nottinghamshire and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807 in no result: Friends Life T20
David Hussey’s blistering half-century went in vain, as the match of the Friends Life Twenty20 between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 and Leicestershire ended without a result. Only one innings was completed in the game played at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Friday,
June 24, 2011.
Nottinghamshire batted brilliantly, scoring 188 runs in their allotted 20 overs, losing just six wickets in the process. They would have loved to have a result in the game, being in a very strong position. However, the rain didn’t allow even a single ball
to be bowled in the second innings.
The home team’s skipper, Hussey, opted to bat first after winning the toss, as he expected the conditions to favour the batsmen. There was cloud cover, which suggested that the ball might swing and seam, but the Australian star didn’t see that as an issue.
Hussey’s decision proved to be a good one, as the home team got off to a flying start. Openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Richard-Griffith-c41953 impression though and was sent
back to the pavilion after adding 12 runs to the total.
The next wicket to fall in the home team’s innings was Hales’, who collected 28 runs from 23 balls with the help of three boundaries. He would have liked to carry onto his innings, but did at least manage to give a solid start to his side.
Hales’ wicket brought two Australians, Hussey and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 time to settle down and took the game away from the opposition with a terrific partnership.
Both players collected 94 runs for the third wicket partnership, hurting the opposition badly. Hussey was the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Main-c73911 contributor in the partnership, as he scored 73 runs in it. He faced just 37 balls for his runs and struck five fours and the same number of
thunderous sixes.
Voges played well, rotating strike over to his aggressive partner at the other end during the magnificent partnership. He got out after scoring 31 runs from 27 balls, striking a couple of boundaries.
Wicketkeeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Mullaney-c91313, batted well towards the end of the innings. They finished with 11 and 19 in their respective outings, guiding the total to 188 in the end.
Star http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623, took two wickets in his spell of bowling. He was hit for plenty of runs as well, but was the one to dismiss Hussey, who could have taken the score past 200.
Unfortunately for both teams and the spectators, there was no play possible after that, as rain came pouring down on the field.
