Rain expected at Epsom after several dry days – Horseracing news
The going at Epsom has become quicker because of the dry weather conditions in England over the past few days. However, things might change with some rain forecast in the coming days.
Andrew Cooper, clerk at the Epsom racecourse, said that the track conditions are good to firm at the moment, but this will change, depending on how much it rains. He added, “Most forecasts suggest at least six millimetres. It would not take much rain to
bring the going description back to good. Unsettled weather is forecast for Wednesday, with drier conditions prevailing for the Investec Derby Festival on Friday and Saturday.”
All of the participants will be hoping for normal racing conditions, so that their challengers can go out attacking on race day. If it rains heavily, the ground will become soft or heavy, which will not be an ideal for most of the participants.
At the moment, things are looking fine at Epsom and the going for the race might end up being good. If this happens, most of the punters will risk their money in favour of Dawn Approach, who is a terrific performer and knows how to dominate his rivals.
The young challenger has been victorious in all of the races he has taken part in, which shows that he is a confident runner. Therefore, it will not be easy for any of his rivals to compete against him.
However, Liberation is expected to pull off a surprise in the all important competition and he has been rated quite highly by the bookies. Therefore, his team has high hopes from him.
According to Liberation’s assistant manager Karl Burke, “Dawn Approach is a superb horse, trained by a genius, and he's the one to beat but he's got more questions to answer as far as the trip goes than we have.”
It will be interesting to see what happens in the Derby, which has the attention of some top quality performers from all over the world.
Earlier, it appeared that weather would not play any part in the outcome of the race, but things have changed now. Some of the stallions will be seeing this as an opportunity to upset Dawn Approach.
