Rain might delay World Series Game 6 – MLB Update
Weather forecasts suggest that Game 6 of the World Series between St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, scheduled for Wednesday, October 26 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri could be in jeopardy because of showers.
Currently, the Rangers are leading the seven-game Fall Classic 3-2, winning two of the three games at home after splitting the first two games at Busch Stadium. With the series now shifting back to St. Louis, the Rangers need just one more win to be crowned
champions, an honour they spilled last year when they lost to San Francisco Giants in five-games after winning their first-ever American League pennant.
There is a forecast of rain all day on Wednesday and there is a 50-percent chance that there will be rain at the start time of the game, 8:05 p.m. CT. However, officials from Major League Baseball confirmed that they will not stop the game after it starts
and may call it early if showers pass by, pushing the decisive Game 6 to Thursday night at the same starting time.
Weather is predicted to remain pleasant on Thursday and Friday nights and both these slots are being looked upon as possible replacements, should rain force a delay in Game 6. Friday will be looked upon as an option if the Cardinals prevail in Game 6, losing
which will effectively end the season for the Redbirds.
Rangers’ manager Ron Washington, talking about the possibility of a rain interruption, said, "I would rather wait for the game to go another day. If it's possible we can play, of course we want to play. You don't want to sit down. We're here to play baseball.
But if the forecast says that it's going to be bad weather and we're going to play and start and stop, I'd rather not."
Advocating his viewpoint of playing when the officials say, Cardinals’ manager Tony La Russa asserted that he has learned over the years that if his opinion is not required, he should not be bothered about it either. He added that if MLB wants the team to
play, the team will play, regardless of the conditions.
As per new rules, regardless of the score or inning, whenever a game is suspended, it will continue from the point of suspension till a conclusion is reached.
