Rain postpones New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays game – MLB Update
The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays’ game for Sunday, August 14 was postponed after rain washed it out. While there was a rain forecast prior to the commencement of the game, no makeup date has been set for the game.
The New York Yankees remain characteristically buoyed as they have won the 11 of their last 15 games. Although they face thje tougher Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox which occupy the ranking, the Yankees are all set to cruise their way past
the leading teams.
While the New York Yankees comfortably defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in the last game 9-2, there is a strong belief that with the rejoining of Alex Rodriguez, the team will be further strengthened, making it easier for them to upset the rivals.
The Tampa Bay Rays were disappointed by the performance. "I'm disappointed, especially after the way we played last night," Hellickson said. "I wanted to come out, do the same thing and get another game on these guys. So, I'm definitely disappointed."
Derek Jeter, who recently had his record 3,000th hit, was extraordinarily pleased. Saturday’s game where the New York Yankees’ offence was at its peak, the defence put an equally marvellous show to prove its instrumentality in the bigger games.
One worry, however, that plagued the New York Yankees was Freddy Garcia’s injury. He had a cut on his right index finger, triggering a worry that he would not be able to pitch. But he himself hopes that injury will heal soon.
"A couple of days, probably," Garcia said. "I cannot go out there and not throw my best pitch," he said. While the injury’s nature is not exactly known, the team manager Joe Girardi does not wish to see Garcia in the disabled list given the wonderful performance
he has maintained.
As the game has washed out, the New York Yankees are looking forward to the upcoming series against the Minnesota Twins. The Yankees will obviously try to exert themselves into winning the series as it will enable them to stay floating in the top three list
of the MLB ranking.
