Rain postpones Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs' game – MLB News
Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals’ game was postponed on Monday, August 8 as heavy rain splashed Wrigley Field, Chicago. The postponement of this game will not affect the series as it will be made up for Thursday, August 9.
Washington Nationals were looking forward to an exciting encounter between the two teams after some good performance of their players lately.
For the Cubs, most important part that contributes to a winning game is a strong bull-pen. This is something that the team manager also alludes to.
"I just know if you're going to win baseball games guys need to pitch well," Quade said. "I just assume focus on the quality he is running out there on a quality basis and believe with that going on the wins will take care themselves at some points, but
he hasn't been lucky that's for sure."
In particular, it is Starlin Castro and Matt Garza who have played considerably well to keep the Cubs floating. Having won only 49 games this season with 66 loses (33 of which were at home), the Cubs could now rely on Starlin Castro and Matt Garza.
The exciting news that came the Cubs way was the announcement that Starlin Castro was picked for the National League Player of the Week. "Good for him. Hopefully it will be a long list of accolades for him. If he keeps his head screwed on and keeps getting
better he will be fun to watch for a lot of years," Cubs’ manager Mike Quade said.
The Cubs hitter currently stands third in the Major League with his 150 hits, 17 of which came last week that entitled him to the NL player of the week.
As the two teams will meet on Tuesday to play the game, the Cubs will certainly look forward for a strong combination of offence and defence to prevail over Washington. The Nationals, with their 55 wins, will certainly go for a tough fight and will be looking
to take a convincing win.
