Rain puts Bangladesh v New Zealand series in jeopardy
The second one-day international between Bangladesh and New Zealand at Dhaka had to be called off by the umpires due to heavy rains that lashed the city on Friday. With this second ODI abandoned due to the rains, the Bangladeshi side still leads the series
1-0 after they had won the previous game.
The match was abandoned without even the toss taking place as the rains kept the players indoors. The cricket stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka boasts of good drainage facilities but with the rain refusing to relent, there was no chance of the game starting. The umpires
abandoned the game two hours after its scheduled start at 11.00 am.
The third ODI will be played on Monday October 11, but a lot will depend on how the weather pans out in the next couple of days. The rains haven’t stopped for two successive days and another day or so of rain could jeopardise the series. Fortunately for the
spectators who had bought the tickets for this game, they will be allowed to use the same ticket for the third ODI that will be played on the same ground.
