I know this probably sounds stupid, but is it just as safe to ride a rollercoaster, e.g Speed in oakwood if it's pouring with rain or if its wet?

  1. When I was suppose to go to Knott's Berry Farm in Anahiem area, it started to rain before it opened and they shut the whole park down.

The bars of the rides get wet, so they tend to slide more, which is not really safe. Especially for extreme rides, they don't want to risk someones life. If it is raining, there will probably be wind and they sometimes close certain rides then.

I wouldn't recommend on going on a rainy day.

  2. If it was really that dangerous, then they would shut it down. The only thing that would happen is that you would get wet. Considering the size of the coaster you are going on, its safe.

The wheels on that coaster are extra secure because of the drops and loops.

  3. Each ride has it's own safety guidelines.  If it is not safe to operate in a certain weather condition they won't do it.  It is almost standard now to have mini weather stations(wind speed, rain, preasure) at various points on the ride.  If any show conditions higher than accepted they will shut the ride down.

Generally just rain will not close down a coaster unless it effects any of the safety systems such as brakes or sensors.  However, you can expect that if lightning is present in the area they will close it down until that passes.
