Perth Scorchers’ wicketkeeper batsman Luke Ranchi has expressed disappointment over the rain intervention in their Champions League T20 Group A match against Kolkata Knight Riders here at Kingsmead in Durban last night.
“Today has been a bit disappointing because of the rain,” Ronchi said while speaking to media reporters after heavy showers in the midst of the match forced the umpires to call off the game, giving two points each to KKR and Perth Scorchers.
“Now we have to win the next two games. But we played some good cricket. Hopefully, we can get the weather out of our way, play some good cricket and do well,” the wicketkeeper batsman added further.
After being put into bat, the Scorchers were 91 for 2 in 14 overs before the match was stopped because of a downpour, which did not let up, and the match was abandoned, with each side getting two points.

Ronchi said that staying calm would be crucial to doing well in the ongoing CLT20, which involves domestic Twenty20 champions from around the world.
Whilst the IPL teams have clearly struggled to get acclimatized to the South African conditions, Ronchi said that his side did not face any such issue as the conditions over here are quite similar to those in Australia.

The guys have played some good cricket,” said the 31-year-old wicketkeeper batsman, who has also played for Australia at the highest level.
“It’s good fun and good cricket. You’re playing international players and domestic players from different countries...it’s a really good place to test your skills,” Ronchi went on to add.
