Rainforest Cafe? Good food?

I really want to go to Rainforest Cafe on my birthday but everyone who ate there tells me the food isn't that great. I really love the atmosphere though so I might go there anyway but for those of you who have eaten there, what is your opinion on the food?

  1. Well the cuisine is pretty low spec- burgers, fried stuff, nachos, platters, etc. Its prepared fairly decently for what it is. Same sort of standard as pub/bar food I'd say; bit like TGI Fridays.

It gets sillily busy, so food is prepared before and reheated- and you can tell. But its not tooooo bad. Orientated at kids mainly, which also links in with the wipe clean menus and tables.

Noisy too, with all those kids, and seating is tricky- they have a funny booking system, no waiting area and have tried to squeeze in too many tables.

I didnt really enjoy it, and found the effects moderately interesting but not enough to compensate for poor service , unimaginative (and a bit bland) food and silly prices (£3.90 for a drink?).

I'd go again, but only for a corporate function or the like, where the whole place is booked out. And maybe where you can arrange your own caterer.

  2. we went there in orlando at disney and it was the best food comparably to the disney food. the kids liked the atmosphere but as an adult we were sick of it after 1/2 an hour. The apes freaking out 7 the rainstorm every ten minutes started to grate on us.  So you may not want to bring grandma or a big group.

The service was great too. And the volcano birthday cake & light up cups are fun.

  3. Its o.k. but your eating in a great atmosphere! Just try it, never know who likes it and who might just HATE it!

  4. i must say i agree with your friend. the dinner isn't anything special, but they have AWESOME desserts. so i would suggest eating something you lile and then going there for the dessert- i know what you mean!!

  5. I adore the food!..Its fantastic!

  6. the food was alright, but if you want, go to a resturant that you know is good and everyone likes and then go to the rainforest cafe for like desert. its really the atmosphere that makes it special.

  7. i didn't really pay attention to the food because the atmosphere was so awesome. i've never eaten in a place like that before, but i'd definately go back regardless of how the food is. im pretty sure it was alright (the food). i had a hamburger and it wasn't bad or anything, its just like average food at an average restaurant.

  8. I completely agree with your friends.  The atmosphere is unforgettable.  I went there when I was, like, 7 and I can remember it clearly.  The food is average, and pretty casual.  (Burgers, salads, cokes, etc...)  But I would reccommend going, because of how different it is from any other restaurant.

  9. I went there one time while in Chicago. It was OK but I don't think I would ever go back. The food was OK at best. The atmosphere really didn't impress me that much. There were so many young kids there. The ones around us were being really loud and acting up. I know you can't expect young kids to sit like adults, make no noise and eat their dinner. Believe me I know I have two kids of my own and sometimes eating out was a chore.  I did have a good drink at the bar while waiting for a table. That was probably the highlight of my meal. .
