most people say that cloud carry the water and responsible for rain.

1 So are they made of water of something else.

2 If they carry water then they must have some weight and must be attracted by the gravitational force of earth. So why they are not?

3 What caused a lot of noise (thunderstorms) and lightning?

  1. "Thunder is basically the result of the lightning bolt "exploding" in the air.

Lightning bolts are incredibly hot -- anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 degrees. (That's hotter than the sun!) When that intense heat pierces the air, the rapid heating of the air creates an explosive shock wave that races away from the bolt at speeds greater than the speed of sound.

That creates a sonic boom, which we know as thunder.

If you're near where the lightning bolt struck, the thunder will sound like an explosive clap. However, more distant strikes will sound more like a rumbling as the sound waves spread out and echo off the ground or nearby buildings. "

  2. clouds are water.

    just as fog is water.

in both cases, water in very tiny droplets.

so small that they tend to float, rather than fall down.

when the air cools water condenses, and you can see the condensation as a cloud, or as fog.

in Yosemite park, there's a mountain named  Cloud's Rest.

that's because air going over the peak is forced up, which cools it, and causes some water to condense right about at the top.

as the air descends on the far side, the condensation evaporates again, and cannot be seen.

as air cools more, more water is forced to condense out, and the water droplets become bigger, and eventually start to fall as rain.

lightning is, essentially, static electricity, on a grand scale.

thunder results, i've read, because a lightning bolt heats up the air, and creates sort of a tunnel of super heated air.

when that collapses, the air rushes back in, and the central compression and resulting expansion, is the cause of the thunder clap.

  3. 1) Clouds are made of vapor

2)As i said they are made of vapor and vapor is easier than water

3)Lightning is an atmospheric discharge of electricity, which typically occurs during thunderstorms, and sometimes during volcanic eruptions or dust storms. In the atmospheric electrical discharge, a leader of a bolt of lightning can travel at speeds of 60,000 m/s, and can reach temperatures approaching 30,000 °C (54,000 °F), hot enough to fuse silica sand into petrified lightning, known scientifically as glass channels or fulgurites which are normally hollow and can extend some distance into the ground There are over 16 million lightning storms every year.

Thunder is the sound made by lightning. Depending on the nature of the lightning and distance of the listener, it can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble. The sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. In turn, this expansion of air creates a sonic shock wave which produces the sound of thunder.
