Rains stops match between Sri Lanka and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 yet again

Rain interrupted the second One Day International (ODI) between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and West Indies at Colombo yet again. The first match of the three-match series also ended without a result after rain came pouring down in the second half of the game.
Earlier, the visitors were put into bat by the Sri Lankan captain and they only managed 203 runs in their allotted 50 overs.
The highest run scorers for the Windies were the Bravos as both Darren and Dwayne scored 39 each. Apart from them, Chris Gayle and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carlton-Baugh-c49264 scored 28 runs each.
Lasith Malinga, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Muttiah-Muralitharan-c78157 and Nuwan Kulasekara were the wicket takers for Sri Lanka. Malinga took 3, whereas Murali and Kulasekara grabbed 2 wickets each for Sri Lanka.
In response, the hosts were 46 for the loss of 1 wicket in 14.3 overs. Upul Tharanga and the Sri Lankan captain, Kumar Sangakkara, were unbeaten at the crease on 23 and 4 respectively.
The only wicket to fall for the hosts was that of Tillakaratne Dilshan. The flamboyant opener scored 11 runs before edging one behind the stumps; Ravi Rampaul took his wicket. Kemar Roach and Darren Sammy remained wicket-less until rain stopped play.
Duckworth-Lewis (D-L) system will now come into play and that may work in favour of the Windies. However, it will be difficult for both the teams to replan their strategies and start all over again.
It is never easy for the batsmen to have such pauses in the match and Sangakkara, who earlier rated the test series against West Indies as one of the worst of his career, will not be happy at all.
Sri Lanka will like this match to continue as they have already had a disappointing series against the Caribbean Kings. The series started in 2010 with both teams looking to play three test matches, till rain washed away all the hopes of a competitive series.
Due to bad weather conditions in Sri Lanka, the ODI series was postponed until January 2011. However, things didn’t change in the country and rain halted the progress of both the matches played until now.
These are not good signs as the World Cup, which is due to start from 19th February, will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. If the weather continues to interrupt the matches like this, it may affect the results of the matches during
the mega event.
