Raise Driving Age?

Is it true that Illinois is raising the driving age from 16 to 18?

Is it true that anyone born in 1993 or younger will have to wait unti lthey're 18 to get their permit/ liscence?

No. Even with the new provisions effective January 1, 2008, age 16 remains the age at which a person who has successfully completed a driver education program may apply for a driver's license. The graduated system establishes additional requirements during the instruction permit phase, with the goal of producing better-skilled 16-year-old drivers.

In California we do have provisional Licenses until 18.  There are a lot of rules like who and how old a rider can be with anyone under 18.  We also have hours when you can drive.  Basically a curfew.  So it wouldnt surprise me if they do raise the age.
