Raise legal age to drive

I live in the United States. Am I the only one that thinks they should raise the driving age to at least 18 or 21. There are to many kids out there driving souped up cars they can't control, killing innocent bystanders. Kids nowadays can usually drive at age 16, that's too close to puberty to be out there on the road, their hormones are to unpredictable, boys at that age are always trying to compete with each other, and usually someone innocent gets hurt/killed. Who else agrees that we should raise the driving age.

  1. Not to mention that at 16 the reaction time is reduced due to nerve growth and new muscle tissue.  Biologically a 16 year old boy is incapable of the control needed in a stressful situation, like driving or car accidents.

  2. Its 17 here in the UK and I have my license but I have been driving since 14 aint killed anyone

Americans just need to scrap their automatic cars its too easy you lot get to comfortable. Ill never drive an automatic they are c**p

  3. They should lower the age to 14.  I bet most 14 year olds could drive better than old people.  I'm old. /

  4. the driving age is 17 here. It was my birthday in June and i've started doing lessons

i don't think that the age should be raised that much higher because teenagers need more independance. if you raise the age to 21, then that means that they will be reliant on their parents for that long before they can give themselves a lift to town or wherever. and that would make moving out even harder than it aready is with the current credit situation
