  1. Beneatha believes that the money the family recieved from the fathers death should be spent on a house for their mother because it is technically the mothers money and on her school tuition.  Walter however wants to use the money as an investment in a company.  Walter is an angry drunk and Beneatha is a clever college student who dreams of being a doctor.  walter causes chaos when without asking her spends a chunk of the money on his investment in a liquor store when his friend runs off with the money.  Everyone in the family is interested in joining the "white" world where Beneatha wants to remain true to her African heritage.

If you want an indept look on the book I recomend sparknotes.com, they can give you a play by play on everything that happened in the book along with an analysis.  Just make sure you don't state it word for word or else that could be considered plagerism in your teachers eye if they go on the website and compare the two.
