Hey-

I am very serious about raising money for a charity that is very close to my heart...but the only problem is, the charity that I want to raise money for, they only way to donate is is with a credit card...

But if I want to collect money for the charity, I can't do it with credit cards...because when I ask people to donate to help me raise money for this charity they cant give me their credit cards LOL.

So, anything that you think I could do.

I only have until April 18th to raise money, so I need to get a move on...

I don't want anyone to tell me to find a new charity.....or to just have people go to the site and donate themselves...

So, please help me!

Peace and Pixiedust-

  1. Sadly, I suspect your charity may be a rip off.  Stop and think abut this.  If you give cash to a charity, the charity gets %100.

If you give cash with a credit card, the card company takes from %8 to %10 in fees.  If this charity is so hot to help out in any way, why would they be unwilling to take cash?  I smell a rat.  They could be legit, but...???

  2. There isn't anything else you can do.  Talk to the development person, or their volunteer coordinator, there's no way they really only take credit cards, it would limit their funding intake too severely.   Have you checked this charity out?  I've been in social services for ten years now, and I've never heard of a charity that only allows donations by credit card; most of the smaller ones are just getting themselves to the point where they even can accept them.  A legitimate charity would accept money by whatever means you were able to give it to them, especially since a lot of people either don't have credit cards, or are leery of giving such information to strangers.  This sounds like a scam, I would steer clear of them, if I were you.

If you're determined to stick with this organization, you could open a Paypal account, take cash, check or credit card donations from people and deposit them into the Paypal account and then use your virtual Paypal debit card number to make the donation to the charity.  It should only take a week to set it all up.  I still say that this place sounds really shady, though.
