What would get you to donate $1 to a charity (online)?

I work for a Haitian orphanage (hafproject.org) that was just devastated by Hurricane Gustav. I'm trying to start a campaign to get people to donate $1. The band that started the orphanage has 55k MySpace friends and the organization has 17k. If you were one of those friends, what would I need to do to get you to donate a single dollar? ANY ideas?? (btw: I'm already using a widget from chipin.com.)

ANYthing else you can think of as a good (online) fundraiser? I'm in desperate need of help!!!

I would post a promotion on everyone's myspace site. Sell it to them by saying that if every one of the 55k members donates $1 the orphanage will have $55k. Tell them exactly that kind of money means. Set a time line to get people moving and promise them an update when the goal is reached. As for the organization - do you have their email addresses. Send them an email with the same kind of spin.

How did you come to be working in an orphanage? I am trying to find a permanent position in an African orphanage but starting to think I may have to start my own!
