Raja Bell lashes out on coach Tyrone Corbin; Wants out of Utah Jazz – NBA Update
The Utah Jazz said goodbye to their playoff journey after getting thrashed by the San Antonio Spurs 4-0 in their first round series, and now they look all set to part ways with their veteran guard Raja Bell.
Bell, in his recent comments, has hit out at Tyrone Corbin, the Jazz head coach, declaring the relationship between him and Corbin as ‘irreparable’. He has also labelled the work mentality of his coach as "unprofessional".
"I think everyone understands the situation we're in now," Bell said. "When it gets to a point where there's absolutely no communication for months on end, we all know that that's irreparable damage."
Back in March, Bell had faced problems with Corbin and was sent home from a road trip after getting into an argument with the coach. The veteran guard did get the nod for the starting position at the start of
this shortened season, but as the season progressed, his minutes were reduced due to injury issues.
Bell, who averaged 6.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in the season, missed out on 27 games due to various kinds of injuries and in his absence, Corbin did a good job by managing his options deserves his due credit
for getting this Jazz side into the playoffs.
General Manager, Kevin O’Conner had nothing but praise for Corbin for getting the team to where it is at the moment.
"Everyone should appreciate the professionalism he brought to the team, how he handled the shortened season, the roster changes and doing a terrific job of dragging the team to the playoffs with playing the young
players and incorporating them into the scheme of things, After what we did to him last year." – O`Conner.
He did however have a say on the matter of Bell wanting to opt out of his contract and made it very clear that issues like these are going to be dealt in privacy and are not going to be discussed in public.
Bell`s frustration with Corbin is mostly due to the fact that he along with C.J. Miles, were both clueless about the rotation system Corbin had in place. According to Bell, he never knew if he was going to play
the next game and is Bell is willing to give up the more than $3.4 million worth of pay to end his contract with the Jazz.
Miles has not said anything on the matter and is rather hopeful on getting a contract extension with the Jazz when he becomes a free agent next season.
