The 36 year old shooting guard is negotiating a buy out with Utah Jazz and wouldn’t mind heading to Miami Heat
According to recent reports, Raja Bell is on the verge of negotiating a buy out with the Utah Jazz and is looking to consider his playing options elsewhere. He might still be in contract with the Salt Lake City franchise by the
time training camp starts, but as soon the two parties work out a mutual deal, Bell would be joining the list of veterans still available in the free agent market.
So which teams would be lining up as a perfect suitor for the veteran guard who is known for his defensive capabilities?
It can be Miami Heat, it always is.
It has become a common tradition to ask any player who heads into free agency regarding a move to Miami Heat, whether they are interested or not. The same question was asked of Bell by Andy Slater of 640-AM Sports and the 36 year
old shooting guard duly replied, relishing the prospect of heading to Miami as it would allow him to return to the city he grew up in.
“for sure… Again, hometown crowd. My kids are in elementary school here. It’d be great for me to get a chance to play here in Miami where I grew up, and I know a lot of people and be a part of this history that they’re going to
make for the city. But that’s not always just up to me.”
Bell may like the possibility of playing in Miami but are the Heat going to see him best for their roster? As the current roster stands, the defending NBA champions don’t really have any weakness and are more than adjusted with
their new system of playing small ball.
However, one thing that might be of interest for the South Beach franchise is that Bell was accustomed to playing a similar fast paced style under Mike D’Antoni in his time with the Phoenix Suns, and can add another good perimeter
shooter to their roster. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves as Bell is still working his way towards a buyout with the Jazz and is not even a free agent yet.
