Rajasthan Royals cruise to win against Mumbai Indians –
Second Innings report – Part 2
At 37 runs from nine overs, the Rajasthan Royals were batting at a snail’s pace as compared to the lightening quick speed at which T20’s in the Indian Premier League are usually played at. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians, on the other hand, were hoping that this would
add some pressure on the batting side and allow for mistakes that would result in wickets.
With the required run rate steadily climbing, the match could have gone either way as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 spent the first few deliveries assessing Pollard. Watson seemed to find Pollard’s weak spot
and smashed the ball straight over Pollard’s head for a six off the last delivery.
All the Royals had to do was hit a boundary every over and the game was theirs. It was a fact that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Murtaza-c997 was hit for a four in the 11th over before Lasith Malinga’s re-introduction got the crucial breakthrough. Malinga
pitched the fourth delivery short and Watson’s attempted pull shot tickled the ball on its way to the wicket keepers gloves.
Mumbai Indians’ captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849 was sticking to the same ‘slow and steady’ game plan.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/J-Botha-c1610 and Ross Taylor continued to frustrate bowlers and fans alike, as they continued to crawl their way to the target with singles.
It seemed the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals were more than willing to win ugly as long as it meant winning in the end. By the end of the 15th over, the result seemed almost certain. With eight wickets in hand and 22 runs to chase with 30 deliveries to spare,
the Rajasthan Royals seemed almost assured of a win.
Mumbai Indians’ bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MM-Patel-c1987, still had some fight left in him though and got his reward when his delivery knocked the bails off the wicket and sent Botha back to the pavilion. The Rajasthan batsman was unfortunate not to complete his half century
as he fell short by a margin of just five runs.
Ross Taylor won the match in near comical fashion. The batsman’s shot did not connect properly as the ball flew upwards and Kieron Pollard dropped the catch despite getting both hands on the ball. The batsmen ran the length of the pitch for a single that
saw them reach the 95 run mark. The win was just what the Rajasthan Royals needed and the two points could prove crucial in the latter stages of the tournament.
