Rajasthan Royals 126/6 (20/20 ov) v Chennai Super Kings 127/6 (18.1/20 ov) - Chennai Super Kings won by 4 wickets (with 11 balls remaining)
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings jumped from seventh to fourth place on Thursday, after beating Rajasthan Royals by four wickets in a match that was played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
The wicket was extremely difficult to bat on as the game was a low scoring contest where both sides lost six wickets with scores not going beyond 127 runs.
At one moment, things seemed heading south for Chennai as their scoring rate dropped quite enough to cause alarm bells to go off, however, they made a late resurgence to secure a win.
After this triumph, the winning skipper of Chennai, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, said, “Leaving it too late is not something we do intentionally, our top six need to perform. As the tournament progresses, we need to get going, the batsmen are coming under pressure early and they need to bat freely.”
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229, the skipper of Royals giving full marks to Chennai said, “You play a good game and sometimes a batsman comes out and plays an excellent innings, you got to accept that. The track was doing a bit, stopping and seaming around, they bowled well, credit to them. We are alive, just by our fingernails, we need to get going and try and win all the remaining games.”
Earlier, after winning the toss Chennai put Rajasthan into bat, and grabbed an early wicket with only six runs on the board as Dravid perished after scoring just four runs.
Royals were left shattered when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 became the second batsman to lose his wicket with only 28 runs on the board.
Chennai kept pressure on the batting side and had it not been for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170 Hodge’s innings of 33 runs, Royals might have faltered on an embarrassing total, nonetheless, the side managed to cluster 126 runs.
Beginning their run chase, Chennai were left in a state of shock as they lost their first wicket with a mere run on the board.
Royals’ bowlers then gave an impressive show as they prevented the batting side from getting away with things, but still they needed to bowl-out the opposition in order to win the game, which they failed to do, as Chennai reached the target in 18.1 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204 from Chennai was named as the Player of the Match for taking two wickets in four overs by conceding only eight runs.
