Rajasthan Royals wants to meet BCCI over expulsion issue
The Indian Premier League franchise of Rajasthan Royals has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) to allow them to meet the board and put forth their case. The BCCI had axed the Rajasthan
Royals from the IPL after the franchise was found flouting some of the financial rules.
In an unexpected move, the Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 had been the other franchise which had been shown the door by the BCCI. The BCCI had said that they had explored their legal options before taking the decision.
Both franchises had expressed shock over their axing and said that they were exploring various options including dragging the BCCI to court.
However, in a bid to understand the situation better, Rajasthan Royals chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Manoj-c1888 Badale is said to have sent a missive to the BCCI asking them to a meeting. According to various media reports, the Royals
have had an issue with the fact that the Indian cricket board had not even sent a show-cause notice to them before banning them from the league.
The Rajasthan Royals franchise also claimed that the BCCI had yet to pay them a sum of Rs 40 crores from the 2008 and 2009 seasons of the IPL.
It remains to be seen whether the BCCI agrees to meeting the Royals franchise. Some media channels have reported that it is unlikely that the BCCI will agree to the same. This could leave the Royals with
no option but to take legal action against the Indian cricket board.
However, the Royals did announce that irrespective of whatever happens in the future, they will pay up all its contracted cricketers from the first three editions of the tournament.
The franchise of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals is owned by Emerging Media with Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra having a stake in the franchise as well.
