Rajasthan Royals were short of 100-120 runs says Shane Warne
Shane Warne, the Rajasthan Royals captain, has said that his team was 100-120 runs short of a fighting target against Kochi Tuskers Kerala at the Holkar cricket stadium on Sunday, May 15, 2011.
In the post match conversation to the reporters, Warne said; "It was probably one of those nights when you were 100-120 short. We can only try as much as we can. I'm proud of our guys as they are trying very hard."
Kochi had made life difficult for Rajasthan, as they bowled out them on a low total of 97 in 18.3 overs.
While chasing the easy target the Tuskers accelerated the flow of runs by hammering the opponents all around the park.
They achieved the target in 7.2 overs, courtesy of Brad Hodge’s brilliant smash, as he made 33 runs and was the top scorer.
The legendary leggy stated, "However, losing four games on the trot suggests we have just made too many mistakes."
After losing the important thump against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803, Rajasthan is knocked out from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, Tuskers still have an outside chance to succeed for the play-offs, depends on other teams performances. Kochi is at the sixth position on the points table with 12 points from 13 matches.
Warne expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance. He admitted that they failed to manage things according to their potential.
"It's disappointing for the fans. Such a great crowd and buzz here. With one game to go, we will try to end on a winning note," Warne added.
Earlier, the kind of spin bowling, Shane was involved in a controversy with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Cricket Association, as he blamed them for Rajasthan’s defeat in their home match against Chennai Super Kings.
Royal’s captain, Warne was furious over the Jaipur pitch controversy as Chennai defeated his side on their home ground by 63 runs.
"In the past four years we have never been told to play on any particular wicket. It is ridiculous to have instructions for pitch," said Warne.
