Rajeev Ram vs Go Soeda – Preview: Eckental Challenger 2011
The 2011 Eckental Challenger will move further on November 2, 2011 when Rajeev Ram (USA) faces Go Soeda (Japan). The match is supposed to be an interesting one as Rajeev Ram, ranked 237th in the world, gave a tough time
to his opponent earlier in the tournament.
Ram’s opponent, Soeda has also been showing good form in the tournament. He entered into the second round by defeating Marcel Zimmermann (Germany) in the first round of the competition.
Soeda, who has yet to win any career title, would be eager to move further into the tournament to capture his maiden title win. However, Ram, who has been doing well in both men’s and doubles division, could dominate the Japanese
in the match.
Last time these two players met was during the 2008 Torneo Internacional AGT held in Leon, Mexico. Ram lost the match, as he had to retire due to an injury. Soeda won the match 6-1, 1-0. Going into the match against the Japanese
in Germany, Ram might have a shadow of his last defeat against Soeda hovering upon him, which might play some part as far as Ram’s confidence level is concerned.
Ram has improved his current form in singles competitions in the past couple of years. In 2010, he won six matches and lost 17. In 2011, he has won 2 matches and lost 3, which shows he has been going on a consistent trend in the
current year.
Soeda, on the other hand, is having a balanced 2011 in terms of win/loss ratio as he won 7 matches and lost the same number of times.
The Indian born American player, Rajeev, might adjust well during the match, for he has been playing on various types of courts in his career, which could give him a sense of the environment as he heads into the match against Soeda.
As far as the competitive nature of both the players is concerned, both players can prove to be worthy opponents, as they have not played each other in nearly three years.
This gap is always decisive, as the players do not know what their opponents would do in the match. The unpredictability factor will play its part in this match as Ram and Soeda would keep each other guessing with their shots and
serves.
It is difficult to state which player would have an upper hand in the match as both players can bring a good offensive game with their counter attacks.
Soeda, on the other hand, can also play sensibly provided he remains confident against a higher ranked opponent.
