Rajeev Shukla optimistic about resumption of bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan – Cricket News Update
The vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, Mr. Rajeev Shukla, revealed on Sunday that the BCCI was in constant touch with its Pakistani counterparts over the resumption of bilateral cricketing ties, adding that he was optimistic about
an Indo-Pak cricket series taking place in near future.
Speaking to a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 has done a lot for the revival of bilateral series and was optimistic about it as well, however he refrained from giving a deadline for the
Indo-Pak series.
"We are in touch with them and I must say the PCB and its new Chairman have made all the right moves to get the ball rolling,” Shukla told Geo News, a Pakistan news channel, in an interview on Sunday.
“But until something definite happens it would not be proper for me to comment on when we can resume playing cricket again...I don't think we should be pessimistic about Indo-Pak bilateral relations but remain optimistic," he added further.
Shukla said that one realistic reason behind the continuous postponement of the bilateral series is the hectic international schedule of the Indian cricket team. He said that his board is contemplating over finding a slot for the much awaited India-Pakistan
series.
The arch-rivals have not played a bilateral series since January 2008, when Pakistan toured India. The latter was scheduled to visit Pakistan in 2008-09 but the deadly http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks in November 2008 prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India cancelling
the scheduled tour. The two teams never played each other in a complete series since then.
The BCCI vice president, who is also chairman of the lucrative Indian Premier League, insisted that there was no hatred among the BCCI officials or the IPL management against Pakistan. He said that had there been any campaign or hatred against Pakistan,
they would not have allowed the Pakistani commentators or umpires to participate in the ongoing season five of the cash rich Twenty20 league.
He however, made it clear that participation of Pakistan players in the IPL is not possible until resumption of India-Pakistan cricket ties.
