Rajiv Shukla denies any rift in the Indian team - Cricket News Update
The Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajiv Shukla has denied news of any rifts prevailing in the Indian team, saying Vice-captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 has been misquoted by the media.
Shukla was at a meeting with other board officials in Mumbai at the IPL (Indian Premier League) governing council meeting, and said that the team was united and the reports of disintegration in the team are merely exaggerations of
statements given by Sehwag and the media manager of the team.
"I don't think there is any rift within the team," said Shukla, while speaking to the media reporters after IPL’s governing council’s meeting in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 today.
"It is only speculation by a section of the media. The team is united. So I don't think there is a problem," he added further.
The issue started after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 – because he wanted to make
sure that fielding standards were good.
Dhoni, who missed Tuesday’s tri-series Commonwealth Bank match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 due to a slow over rate ban, had said that he was rotating the three openers because he feared their slow fielding might leak 20 runs in the field.
Insisting Sehwag has been misquoted; Shukla said that senior board officials were constantly in touch with the team management and there is no problem in the team.
"Sehwag has been misquoted. That's what we came to understand. There is no rift in the team. It is only a speculation by a section of media. I don't think there is any problem. BCCI is in constant touch with the team," said Shukla.
Asked about the rotation policy, Shukla said, it was not in the hands of Dhoni to finalise the playing XI. He further added that the tour management consisting of the captain, coach and the manager decide the final squad for every
game, so it is unfair to blame or criticise Dhoni for dropping the senior players.
BCCI president, N http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829 also rubbished any news of a rift in the national team, saying that the report of the media manager has been exaggerated.
