Rajon Rondo making a smooth recovery from his elbow injury: NBA Update
While the beginning of the 2011-2012 season gets murkier with the each passing day due to the NBA lockout, the extended lay off is giving an opportunity to the injured players to nurse themselves back to fill fitness.
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is one of the biggest names on that list. He dislocated his elbow against the Miami Heat in the Game-3 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals after a scuffle with Dwyane Wade. He continued
to play that night and in the series games after that, but once the C’s got knocked out, the 25-year-old point guard has not taken part in the full-fledge basketball activities
He recently indicated that the elbow is healing gradually.
"The elbow is getting better. I got another check-up on it (Tuesday). It's getting there. It's still a little swollen, (but) other than that, no problem. I can play a little bit without too much contact. I did three push-ups today,
so I’m fine.”" Rajon said.
Apart from availing the time off to recover from injury, the All-Star Rajon is also fulfilling his college commitments. This summer, Rondo has returned to the University of Kentucky in order to complete his degree which was left
incomplete after he left for NBA as a sophomore.
Phoenix Suns selected Rajon as the 21st overall pick during the 2006 NBA draft and traded him to the Boston Celtics straight away. At present, Rondo has 60 completed credits needs another 40 to get the degree.
After having constant checkups, the Boston Celtics’ star is finally making progress and wants to get back on the court as soon as possible.
“Now I have more time, and with the elbow injury I had down time, so I went in there to work on it. But I’m ready to get back to basketball and focus.” He said.
Rondo stated that his teammates are working out individually at the moment and there are no official plans to assemble for drills. However if the NBA lockout stays for a longer period, the players of the Boston Celtics might organize
group workout sessions.
