Rajon Rondo not on the trade radar; Confirms Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers – NBA Update
In the last few days, Rajon Rondo has been the centre of trade rumours and there have been many reports claiming that the All-Star point guard is on the verge of leaving the Boston Celtics.
Differences between the assertive C’s head coach Doc Rivers and the PG were believed to be the greatest driving force behind the move, but the Celtics coach has finally put an end to the media circus.
Irked by the negative vibes of his relationship with Rondo, Rivers said on Thursday;
"My relationship with Rajon is as strong as it has ever been," he said. "Our communication has never been better. I want him here. I can say with almost 100 percent certainty he will be here with us when the season ends. I'm tired of this stuff. It's not
fair."
Rondo is as moody an NBA player as they get. He was recently suspended for two games after hitting the match official with the ball and starting from his collegiate career, when he head butted his coach at Kentucky, there have been many outbursts from the
celebrated point guard. However, such is his class that Boston are willing to overlook his antics and have launched a full scale defence of the reported trade vibes.
Danny Ainge, the president of basketball operations, called Rondo the ‘best player’ available at the franchise and re-iterated that the franchise is looking to build a team around the point guard in future. Talking on his weekly call to Boston sports radio
WEEI, Ainge added;
I'm very confident that Rondo knows what I think of him, what I feel about him as a player and how important he is to our team," Ainge told WEEI. "I feel like Rondo is making incredible strides as a player, as a leader, as a teammate, and as a player in
every way -- offense and defense."
The statements from two of the most influential people at the franchise have pretty much put the dust at the Rondo rumours, but now there reports that the C’s are looking to trade the veteran duo of Ray Allen and Paul Pierce to get some younger option and
draft picks. Whether there is any truth in these rumours, we will certainly come to know before March 15 trade deadline.
