Rajon Rondo refuses to comment on the departure of Ray Allen from Boston Celtics – NBA News
Rajon Rondo has gradually made himself invaluable to the Boston Celtics team, and become one of the best point guards in the league.
Last season, he had a huge impact in the game for the Celtics, with many people arguing that he should now be part of the “Big Three” for the Celtics instead of shooting guard teammate Ray Allen.
The rise of Rondo among the Celtics ranks and him taking the leadership role in the team created differences between him and Allen and the latter signed with the Miami Heat as a free agent this summer even though the Heat were
offering him half of what the Celtics had offered.
Many at the time commented that one reason for Allen leaving the team was his falloff with Rondo.
Rondo was interviewed by Ethan Sherwood Strauss of Bleacher Report and was asked a number of interesting questions. Strauss also asked him about the situation with Allen and whether his departure had anything to do with their relationship.
“There have been reports that Ray Allen went to the Heat because there was strife between you and him. Is that overblown? Is there any truth to those reports?,” asked Strauss.
“I think Doc answered that question pretty much. I don’t have anything to say about that,” replied Rondo.
The fact that Rondo decided not to comment on the situation shows that he did not want to name anybody or say anything that would become controversial. He also wanted to show some loyalty to Allen, as both players had seen the
height of success as teammates with the Boston Celtics, winning an NBA championship in their run.
Rondo was also asked what type of pass he prefers the most being a point guard, or which pass is he most comfortable with.
“Oh, I like throwing a cross-court one-hand bounce-pass between the defense to P (Paul Pierce). I’ll throw a little English on the ball, throw it between two, three guys that are trying to run extremely hard to the paint,” replied
Rondo.
Rondo is a creative pass first - shoot second point guard, who specializes in making plays and finding teammates in open position from where they can shoot. He will all set to become the franchise player and leader of the Celtics
after Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce retire.
