Rajon Rondo says once again that he is the best point guard, this time with explanation – NBA News
In a league dominated by point guards, there are many who would like to take credit for being at the top of that ladder. We saw players like Jason Terry and C.J. Watson say that Rajon Rondo and Deron Williams are the best point
guards in the league when they joined their new teams respectively, and we saw Rajon Rondo say with confidence that he is the best point guard at the moment. Throw in names like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, and the decision becomes really tough. But
that has not stopped Rondo from claiming once again that he is in fact, the best point guard, elaborating why he thinks so this time around.
Rondo was the cover story of the current edition of the Boston Common Magazine, in which he once again stated that he had the throne that so many were after in the NBA, and gave his reasons for thinking so.
“It’s always the whole package. Some fans look at a point guard and say he had 26 points, seven assists, and eight rebounds, and they’ll say he had a great game. The mental game is where it’s at. What separates great players from
good ones is performing consistently. I can dominate the game in any number of ways, not just with the numbers.  It’s more than keeping track of the score. In that category I think I am the best at what I do,” explained Rondo.
Rondo is without a doubt one of the best players to be playing the one spot in the league, and has grown over the years to become the on floor leader of the Celtics. He makes the plays and controls the pace of the game, helping
his teammates get better looks. But Chris Paul does the same and finishes with more points at the end of the day. Then there is the likes of Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook, who play the point guard but score 20 plus points on a consistent basis. They carry
the team in a different way, leading from the front and helping set the pace. The battle for the throne continues and the next season would give a better picture of where these players stand, as each one attempts to take their teams deep into the playoffs.
