http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivan-Rakitic-c17333, has explained why he cannot wait for this weekend’s derby match against Real Betis.
Sevilla will host their neighbours, Betis, on this weekend and Rakitic wants to take part in it so that he can continue his good run in the derby encounter.
The former Schalke 04 star has revealed that derbies always went well for him during his spell in the Bundesliga.
“In Germany with Schalke the derbies went really well for me.”
The Croat has a lot of experience in derbies due to his time with the German side. Because of that he feels the atmosphere and intensity of the encounter need not be explained since everybody is aware of it.
“With derbies there is nothing that needs explaining, because everybody knows about this, I have played in many derbies in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, so I know, I understand very well.”
The 24-year-old has also commented on this Sunday’s derby match with the Beticos. The player is aware of the advantage that comes with playing at home and is sure his team will be in their best form.
“It is a special week, we know. We are going to prepare for this game with maximum intensity. We are playing in our stadium and it is a derby.”
Sevilla have not had a good start to the season and as a result of that, they are now languishing on the 10th position in the Primera Division standings. Their poor run has frustrated their coach and the fans alike.
On the other hand, Betis went off to a sensational start. They managed to put together a run of good results that currently puts them on the 4th spot.
Rakitic is aware of the precarious situation that exists in the club at the moment. That is precisely why he insists his team will do everything in their power against Betis on Sunday and make sure they don’t get anything less than
the three points.
“We will go at them, we want to win and we need the points because the situation is currently a little complicated for us.”
Derbies are always unpredictable and it will not be a surprise if the Beticos come away with all the three points, given their current form.
