Ralf Fahrmann wary of the DFB Pokal clash against FC Teningen
Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann has stated that his team is not underestimating the German cup opponents and are well prepared for the first round battle. He claimed that Schalke have been working hard in training and are focused
and ready to defend the DFB Pokal.

Fahrmann insisted that Schalke are not underestimating their opponents in the Cup clash and will play at their full potential. He admitted that there have been some upsets in the past few years at this stage but remained confident
of a great season to defend the competition.
“We are not underestimating our opponents. That would be negligent. We have to be highly focused, especially as everyone knows the Pokal can sometimes write its own rules,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt player stated that the team is motivated for the start if next season as the pre-season has been great. Schalke have won the DFL Supercup already before the Bundesliga campaign has started by defeating
German champions Borussia Dortmund on penalties.
The shot stopper predicted a very good season ahead and claimed that his side could fight for the honours if they continue to play with determination and full motivation. He tipped his side to succeed in the next term and compete
with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund of trophies.
“We are highly motivated and happy that the season finally starts. Pre-season is always very tiring but the hard work will help us achieve our goals. If we go into each game fully focused and fully committed then the club can have
a very successful season,” he concluded.
Schalke had a miserable season last term in the domestic league as they finished 14th on the standings table with 40 points. However, Die Knappen will be competing in the UEFA Europa League this year after winning the
DFB Pokal.
