Ralf Schumacher: Michael came back to celebrate successes with Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Ralf Schumacher has said that Michael Schumacher has made his Formula 1 comeback so as to celebrate the victories with Mercedes AMG while he said that his brother will not give up until he wins.
“It has nothing to do with it. But for sure Michael came back to celebrate successes with Mercedes. And until he succeeds, he will not give up,” he said.
Moreover, he expressed that he wants Schumacher to continue his career in the sport even beyond the end of his contract with the Brackley based team.
The seven-time world champion took his retirement in 2006 and returned to F1 couple of years ago. He struggled during the first year of his return and was completely outperformed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg. However, in the subsequent season, he reasonably
improved his pace as compared to 2010. Besides, his best performance was fourth place finish in Canadian GP.
Furthermore, Schumacher’s brother said that the record championship holder has still a lot of potential in him. He added that Schumacher has been working very hard, in order to enhance his pace in the races ahead and his efforts can be witnessed after seeing
his performance in the in-season test held at Mugello circuit last week.
“I still see a lot of fire in Michael. He is pushing hard, as we saw as recently as Mugello last week,” he said.
Besides, he said that he believes the legendary driver will soon secure a podium finish in the season.
“I think we will see Michael on the podium soon. At some point, there surely comes a point when the body can't do it any more. But when I look at Michael, that's still a few years away. I certainly won't be racing as long as he has,” he said.
The veteran German driver has shown impressive performances during the qualifying of the first three Grands Prix until now with a competitive car W03. Conversely, he has not been able to convert his competitive gird positions into a podium finish in either
of the races.
Nonetheless, he is feeling hopeful with an aim to perform well in the approaching races to secure a good position in this year’s championship.
