Ralph Lauren Corporation picks Jonathan Horton, McKayla Maroney and Alexandra Raisman to be its ambassadors for London Olympics
The Ralph Lauren Corporation has picked three U. S. gymnasts, namely, Jonathan Horton, McKayla Maroney and Alexandra Raisman for its athlete roster.
The Ralph Lauren Corporation is the official outfitter for the American teams that will be taking part in the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.
This is not a first for the Ralph Lauren Corporation, which has been providing its services and bridging fashion and gymnastics since 2008.
In 2008, Ralph Lauren dressed the U. S. teams for the Beijing Olympics, and two years later, the gymnasts benefitted from the same kind of arrangement at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
The Ralph Lauren Corporation originally started off with merely a collection of ties. 40 years later, it stands towering over the fashion, design and lifestyle landscape with an impressive force.
Team USA’s parade uniforms for the opening and closing ceremonies at the London Olympics, will be designed by Ralph Lauren.
The fashion powerhouse will also create an exclusive village wear collection along with accessories.
For the upcoming Olympic Games campaign, Ralph Lauren has chosen three brand ambassadors – all of whom were part of the winning U. S. team at the Olympic qualifiers, the 2011 World Gymnastics Championships, Tokyo.
Olympic hopeful Jonathan Horton ruptured a ligament in his foot in Tokyo during the World Championships. Despite the injury, he managed to stick his landing and contributed to the team win.
The resilience of his spirit is also evident in the way he has handled his injury. Instead of rushing his recovery or letting his skills rust, Horton has made the most of the misfortune by devoting his time to upper-body apparatus, such as the pommel horse
and still rings.
And so, he is still a strong contender in running for the Olympics despite being injured – something one does not get to see every day.
Vault queen, McKayla Maroney, was the U. S. Champion on the vault this year, as well as the World Champion on the same apparatus. She also accepted the team gold at the World Championships this year.
The third gymnast selected for the athlete roster by Ralph Lauren is Alexandra Raisman, who contributed towards the team gold at the World Championships this year, while earning a bronze for herself on the floor exercise.
The 2010 Pacific Rim Champion has just embarked on her gymnastics career as a professional.
Already having landed ambassadorship for Ralph Lauren, it seems that Raisman is on the right track. The Olympic Games will hopefully add even more to her commercial viability.
About this latest move, Ralph Lauren’s Executive Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Communications, David Lauren said, "(these athletes) embody the true spirit of American sportsmanship and we are proud to have them wear our product as they represent
Team USA".
The U. S. athletes are bound to win, and look pretty while they are doing it.
