Ralph Sampson ready to take on any assistant coaching offers coming his way
Ralph Sampson went away from the world of basketball a long time ago and never really tried to get a coaching position or an analyst job, just in order to spend time with his family.
However now with both of his sons well settled in their own lives, the soon to be Hall of Fame inductee feels that it may be time for him to get into coaching. Sampson has clearly hinted that if any offers come his way, he would
be more than willing to accept it.
“I know it’s a crazy game to get into sometimes and once you get in you’ve got to wiggle your way to the top,” he said the day before being inducted into the Hall of Fame. “But if the opportunity presents, I’ll look at it and I’ll
take it from there.”
He also admitted that he may not be as good as his former Houston Rockets team-mate, Hakeem Olajuwon in teaching post up skills. But did contemplate that he is ready to start from the first step and build on.
At the moment no prominent offers seem to have been made for the Hall of Famer but let’s just hope whenever his coaching career begins, it does not suffer the same downfalls as his playing career did.
Toronto Raptors offer Jamaal Magloire a non-guaranteed camp invite
The Toronto Raptors have been looking to re-shape the face of their franchise post the Chris Bosh era and have been rather successful as they have developed a good unit with fresh faces representing their organization.
With Andrea Bargnani slowly establishing himself as the scorer of the team and Amir Johnson, Ed Davis and Jonas Valanciunas playing backup, they might have done well without adding anymore big men to their roster.
However, the Raptors management seem to think otherwise as they believe that having a veteran presence will be good for the team. So they have gone ahead and offered Jamaal Magloire a non-guaranteed training camp invitation with
the possibility of getting selected at the last position remaining on their roster.
Magloire played in 34 games for the Raptors last season and was one of the last players coming off the bench as he shot only 37% from the field. But the Raptors management believe that Magloire can help out the younger players
with his experience.
