  1. The Crucial memory scanner

can tell you what type of memory you have and how much memory your system can take.  As to where you should buy it and how much that very much depends on the type and size of memory but once you know what you are looking for it should be easy to find.

  2. there are a couple of free programs out there that will tell you what kind of ram you have, if you are just wondering what speed it dose not made, cuz you can buy a different speed ram, but you just need to make sure the ram you want to buy is computable with your computer, and as for were to buy it, just don't buy from the manufacture or a brand name, cuz they might charge you a extra $1000

  3. Best brands known:

    *corsair

    *kingston

    *ocz

    *patriot

    *mushkin

    *crucial

and it's not good putting different brands or types of RAM on the same motherboard, like 4 example : putting a 256MB RAM with another 512MB RAM, or corsair RAM with another kingston RAM.

because of the probability of conflict even BIOS startup failure.

So it's better to use same couples this ensures your RAM settings will get the most out of the RAM you have.

and as long as you've got the cash you won't find any obstacle in finding any computer market (computer malls) or even via internet if you have credit card (Amazon, eBay, ...etc.)

  4. http://www.crucial.com they have a system scanner that will tell you exactly which ram to buy and even give you examples.
