I play sports, and need water, why can't a muslim during ramadan drink water? i understand ramadan is to remember the poor and all the things we have taken for granted, but the poor drink water, virtually everyone does, so why not during ramadan while fasting?

  1. during ramadhan when u r fasting u should not part in sports

  2. Sahih Bukhari, Volumn 003, Book 031, Hadith Number 128.

    --------------------------------------...

Narated By Abu Huraira : Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.' Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting."

  3. According to Islamic belief, restraint from food, water, and undesirable behavior makes a person more mentally disciplined and less prone to unhealthy behavior. This is one of the reasons why they still restrain drinking water (or any kind of beverage for that matter) during Ramadan.

About your argument on Ramadan and the poor:

The basis of fasting during Ramadan is intended to be an exacting act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a raised level of closeness to God Almighty. Yes, it also allows Muslims to practice sympathy for those who are less fortunate - which is intended to make Muslims more generous and charitable.

This doesn't necessarily mean that just because everyone drinks water, those who practice fasting during Ramadan are allowed to drink it anytime they want to because the point of Ramadan isn't to be/to act like the poor. It's about being able to somehow relate to their life (in general) which in turn will help these Muslims who practice Ramadan humble themselves and help them become more generous and charitable to others for they have experienced living the hard way or not getting what they want anytime.

  4. Who said it's to feel what the poor are going through? That's a minor factor. Allah clearly says in The Blessed Book:

O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that [perhaps] you may attain a level of God-consciousness [Taqwa].

I don't mean to act righteous or seem that way, but I used to live in Kuwait and I played football in 40C weather - it was not a problem to fast. Fasting is all about your will power and the level of Faith you have in Allah.

  5. uhm idk why you should not, i drink water everday.....not allowing u to drink water? they want ya to suffer or somthing?

  8. well wen its ramadan u can just play sports less i guess .. :|
