  1. In what sense are you talking?? Health-wise i dont think it is because you should be eating throughout the day but spiritually it's a sign of submission and your faith in islam.. Fasting is not the only thing muslims do during ramadan aswell, and as you know it's only in the times that the sun is up so it's not during the whole month.. As the islamic calander follows the moon and one month goes for 28 days, ramadan moves throughout the year so some years it's longer than others (summer).. if i were muslim i'd be looking forward to the winter where it is shorter (seeing as the days are shorter)... from an islamic perspective that's a sign of gods fairness as he doesnt make every muslim have to go through a long ramadan every year..

So bottom line, spiritually it's good, health-wise, it's only a month (28 days) and during when the sun is up so im sure it wont have that big of an impact on your health. Plus if you have any health issues, in islam (also in judaism) you may forgo the holidays where fasting is involved if it does bad to your health. The religion does not force it upon you especially if you are sick but it does spiritually clense you and i assume it would make one feel good after doing it.

  2. not bad neither good but it's a waste of time and effort.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Eph 2:7  That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Act 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Act 4:11  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Act 4:12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

  3. hmm well I don't think its bad, and plus I don't think its a waste of time and effort. I mean okay if you're not strong enough to prevent yourself from eating and drinking for almost 14 hours, then go ahead ofcourse you'll give Ramadan a bad rating and will also call it a horrible culture. But in my opinion, I feel alot lighter and better during Ramadan and specially when I am doing cardiovascular exercises or lifting weights. This is when you feel like a real man and you actually get the feeling of a successful workout. I know we fast for our faith, but I fast for both my faith Islam, and myself because I like it. You can't get a better feeling than someone asking you how is that possible to fast while doing cardio and working out, lol. And as for the above answers, its alot worse to fast for about 30 days with water than fasting for 13-15 hours without eating/drinking anything.

  4. Ramadan is a horrible cultural/relgious observance. Fasting is the healthiest thing in the world when done right, but after just reading more about how they fast it can't be beneficial.

As I see it: they eat before the dawn and after dusk. They're still eating and drinking, just depriving themselves during the day of water. They're messing with their biological cycles as well as their metabolism.

Water is necessary throughout any day as your body keeps depleting it. Engorging yourself to two meals during the day doesn't seem like a wise idea to me. I've always read that its best to space your food and water out evenly and to eat only one type of thing at a time so that your body can process it better.

Fasting with juices or on water is very important for health. I don't consider Ramadan fasting at all, because you're eating in the morning and at night. A fast consists of 24 hours or over and even thats not that great of a fast. Humans can fast for over 30 days on nothing but water - or even just juices (vegetables and fruits at separate time). There is zero health benefits to Ramadan in my opinion.

Sure you can not eat anything during the daylight hours, but is that really a fast? Then I can say I've fasted from breakfast to lunch - 4 hours. I don't think thats legit.

Rumor and testimonials have it that fasting on just water or juices can cure people of many diseases and ailments - and this is only what fasting should be used for. Done improperly like Ramadan I can't see any potential gains or purpose for it other than blindly following what you've been taught to trust as a child.

  5. Of course its Good! And Insha Allah we all have a successful Ramadan starting tomorrow.

    Allahu Akbar!
