How long is your summer holiday?

We only have about 6 weeks...

well, school ended at the end of may for us

i think on the 28th of may(?)

and we go back to school on august 27th :D

Please don't call us lazy. Obviously our education system is just fine, otherwise we wouldn't have the best schools in the world :) And sorry if this sounds arrogant or mean, I really don't mean it! That is just how I talk :) If the schooling system wants to give us 2.5 months off, so be it, we don't get that many breaks during the school year. Maybe you go to a year-round school? Where they have a 1 month break every 3 months or so? There are some places like that here....Or maybe you get more time off some other time of the year? It depends on your total days of schooling. Each district or state or something like that has to meet a certain amount of school hours per year, so there are only a certain number of days you can have off. I finished in June, but my friend who lives nearby had more breaks during the year, so she got off 2 weeks later than me. And now that I am going to college, I don't start till end of semptember, a WHOLE MONTH longer than when high school starts! YIPPEEE! but school is waaay faster in college, the first quarter is already over in 8 weeks! what the heck? its reaallly fast, so i better savor these 4 months of freedom.......

My son's school gets out for 12 weeks, but there are a couple of schools in the largest city close to us that are year round.  I think they go to school for 9 weeks then out for 3, but they get 6 weeks during the summer.  I wish my son went to an all year school cuz he's already wanting to go back.  In elementary and middle school they spend the first 4 to 6 weeks just going over everything the kids learned the year before so it's a waste of time.  If they had shorter breaks they would be able to pick up where they left off in their school work.

About two and a half months is traditional, this is actually because of how many families in the past were farmers and couldn't send their children to school during the working months of the summer.

Our summer lasts about 2 and a half months.  Btw, most American kids aren't lazy.  They work and volunteer during the summer.

Well I just graduated from College, but during college I had June - August off. In high school I had July - August off.
