Question:

Ramadan: What are your opinions on...?

The praises that a crowd makes after every verse is read from the Quran. You know what I'm talking about, watch a video of the Quran being recited by Abdulbaset, that Turkish guy, the Iranian one, and the hundreds of other Egyptians. This is what you will hear after the reciter finishes every verse: ALLAHU AKBAR, SUBHANALLAH, MASHA ALLAH, ALLAH!

This annoys me, big time. It's like you expect another verse to be read and then bam, you hear those words, but like tens of them at a time and it echoes too. What ever happened to this verse?

واذا قريء القران فاستمعوا له وانصتوا لعلكم ترحمون

And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that Mercy may be shown to you. (7:204)

This started I believe in Egypt and has been adopted ever since in places like Iran, Turkey, Morocco, etc. What are your opinions on it?

  1. Salam for you my dear friend .In line with surah 7 Al A'raf verse 204,we should hear and keep silent if we are recited some verses of the holy Qur'an,so we will be blessed by Allah.By hearing it and keep silent we will know how beautiful  those verses and by keeping silent we do not disturb the reciter. We will be better if we know also its meaning and know how to implement or practise it oin our daily lives

  2. Yes, it annoys me too that they have to be so vocal in their appreciation when most of the time, they are the worst offenders themselves.

  3. I find it annoying, so so annoying. I was watching this little boy recite the quran and the crowd would not keep quiet. Every time the boy paused every one would shout Allahu Akbar and so on.

  4. People of these countries have forgotten the Verse "And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that Mercy may be shown to you. (7:204)".  It is the duty of the Ulema (scholars) in these countries to tell that the shouting of the words Allahu Akbar, Subhanallah, Masha Alllah, Allah! when hearing the verses from the Holy Quran is against the command of Allah (S.W.T.) in Verse 7:204.

  5. This is an innovation and a strange behavior regarding the Qu'raan. Shaykh Dr. Saleh as Saleh mentioned that these noises and behaviors are against the Qur'aan and Sunnah (as from the verse you mentioned). Shaykh Muqbil criticized Abdul Basets recitations where this occurred and said these are exaggerations in the recitation of the Quraan (where he elongates a verse for 20 seconds).

People have started taking this Qur'aan as entertainment. Do they yell Allaahu Akbar from the Ayaat? or from the mans voice? If it were from the Ayaat they should break down in tears instead of yelling. There's no evidence from ANY of the Salaf who did this

  6. ^^^^^^^

    What's up with him?

Well i've never heard or seen it before.. but lol, i can imagine how annoying it is !

  7. Somebody will probably tell you that verse means when it is read during prayer..i.e. tarweeh. But when having a session of Quran reading only, that it's ok. Maybe they can attach and explain the verse before it or after it to get around their explanation...only muslims are good at making stuff fit for the purpose, so i'll leave it to them.
