What are your opinions regarding Al-Azhar in Old Cairo, Egypt? What do you think about the Fatwas they issue?

With all the knowledge they have about Islam, I find quite a few of their Fatwas to be questionable and many of their teachings corrupt.

  1. It's one of the oldest universities, and it's still up and running, for which I have to commend it. It is considered highly prestigious. I think it's good.

I just read the additional details you posted. That fatwa is RIDICULOUS. But, the woman shouldn't work alone with a man anyway. Therefore, no 'breastfeeding' would be required.

    Utterly ridiculous.

  2. so far i know  " Al- Azhar " & " Islamic University of Malaysia "  are Universities which teaches Corrupted Concepts.

  3. Yes some of their fatwas are really questionable.

In 1959 the head of Al Azhar university,Shaikh al-Akbar Mahmood Shaltoot, issued a fatwa that "Shiasm is the 5th Madhhad in Islam"

Its the most ridiculous fatwa i have ever heard of.

  4. I like Al-Azhar. Every now and then a Fatwa, we do not like will pop up from all schools of thought, but in general, they are very good.

Edit>>>>>>Yes sis, but i heard from Abu Harith that it was over ruled, in one of the questions about it.

Edit>>>>>> well sis, what i have learned from this question is, that even Sunni vs Sunni, Shia vs Shia exists, so it will be very hard to unite, we must first unite our own and then start uniting with others, all religions say, Charity first begins at home, God helps those whom help themselves.

Edit>>>> when i say unity i do not mean creed, that is impossible, politically should be sufficient. I do not want a Calipha or One School of thought, i personally prefer it this way, we have choice for now, when Al-Mahdi comes he will unite all the sects in creed, but when i say unity, i mean peace, since we all follow the religion of peace, right?

Edit>>>>>Muslim your answer sounds like a rant, it is not up to you to say if i am Muslim or not, it is not up to your father your scholars or your Kings, to decide if i am Muslim or not. Since you people say Allah will forgive Yazid for killing Hussain, then i am sure Allah forgive me for insulting Yazid and the father of Yazid and the grandfather of Yazid. Why is Allah to you so forgiving and your chumps  Bani Umaya but so severe to me, tell me?

  5. if they are being supervised or controlled in any way by government pressure then of course they cannot be completely credible.  I think however that the Azhar cannot be completely dismissed because of its history.  Of course you will find some strange fatawa but almost always those are condemned by the ulema so it's pretty obvious that there is something dubious behind it.

  6. May allah give them & us Hedayah.

  7. Al-Azhar is an Ash'aree school.

They teach all sorts of the 'Aqaa'id of the deviant groups without correcting them and explaining their errors.

People generally tend to come out as cocktails in 'Aqeedah from there.

  8. Yes, there are some things in al-Azhar that go against the ‘aqeedah of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah, but not every professor in al-Azhar is like that. There are some of well knows great scholars among. So don't be among those who reject the whole of good  because of the errors of the few.

Also learning knowledge is not alone enough. One needs the Hidayah from Allah (s.w.t) in order to get the light.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Azhar_Un...
