Ramadan section: is it true that when reciting Qur'an, one shouldn't move?

moving as in back and forth in a rhytmic way?

I remember once either hearing or reading that we shouldn't move in rhytmic ways because the Yahoods used to do it as they read the Torah. (I think it's in Surah Baqarah)

Can anyone enlighten me on this subject? Many thanks.

Salaam.

  1. Such an act of Sufism!

  2. Sorry but that sounds just ridiculous. I highly doubt thats true at all. ..

  3. its not moving...its thinking  one is not permitted to do

  4. well sister, moving back and forth in a rytmtic way is not a problem

In Hafiz Classes the students and teachers do that when reciting the Qur'an

it helps them to learn more faster!

But moving too much, is a problem

and u should also sit properly when reciting the Holy Qur'an

    Ramadan Mubarak Aeman!

  5. The forward and backward movements of head and body in rhythmetic way by students who are learning Quran by heart (hifz) make it easy for them to learn faster.  I have seen the students in hifz madrasahs doing this.  The hifz teachers in such madrasahs are not stopping the students from doing such movements.  When I have enquired the teachers told me that they have also learnt Quran by heart by such movements.

Insha Allah, Ismail Eliat  will give further information on this point.  He learnt Quran by heart from Masjidul Haram, Makka Al Mukarramah.

  6. Allah knows your heart. Some people just have these nervous habits. I do it--I wouldn't be able to concentrate otherwise.

  7. God will listen to you wheather you are moving or not.  so just pay attention to prayer and to God

  8. i dont think youre supposed to do it.

everytime someone in my Qur'an class does they

are told to stop. because the Qur'an is

the word of Allah therefore it should be read in

    a respectful manner.

  9. Salam for you .I do not read an ayat in the Qur'an and a hadits of Muhammad pbuh which prohibite the move while reciting the Qur'an.

I think it is only a logic position we focus on reciting we should not move. But in another condition, they will easily remember their reciting if they move their bodies and heads in arhytmic way.

Allah knows well what are our own intention in our hearts. So I think it depends on your own habit  move or not move.

  10. Facing meccan in wadu, but not in a shaking motion like jews. So yes its true should be concentrating on the rythem of the Quran Al Karim inshAllah and not laying on a bed or in lazy positions. AstugfarAllah

Your sitting with Allah SWT and his words and his book, SubhanAllah we have to show some respect for something don't we? mashAllah! May he have mercy on the many dusty Qurans we leave about. AstugfarAllah Azeem

  11. Sister we copied alot of Islam from the Yahoods, if we stop this then we'll have to stop many other stuff too.

    Wearing of hat>>yahoods

    Halal/kosher salauthering of animals. Yahoods

    Facing a certain direction. Yahoods.

  12. Salam every one

    RAMADAN MUBARAK / RAMADAN KAREEM

    Kullu Aamen Wa antum Bekhir

I agree with brother Mohammad Bashir

for hifz student it is allowed traditionally and practically otherwise if one reciting Quran for Khatam or just recitation it is not advisable, one should try to  avoid it to make a differentiate from Yahood as U mentioned In Ur Q . It is also against Qura'ans Adab we should recite Qura'an in complete adab, khusjo and tadabbur. but  there is no harm if some one can't control over it and it's become his habit. may Allah forgive me

  13. This is a popular belief, but I've never come across a Hadith substantiating it. From my understanding you can recite Quran while moving, running, standing, sitting or lying down, it's all good.

  14. Well when I read I usually don't move lol

I don't know that you're not suppossed to do it because of the Yahoods.

  15. what do you mean, like grab the Quran and go for a jog or something??
